PE and Sport Premium

At Rayleigh Primary School, we believe that physical education and sport are vital for children’s health, wellbeing and personal development. Taking part in physical activity helps pupils to build confidence, resilience and teamwork skills, as well as promoting lifelong healthy habits.

We want every child to experience the benefits of being active. By embedding sport and physical activity into the life of the school, we help pupils to develop healthy bodies, healthy minds, and a love of movement that will stay with them for life and prepare them for the world that awaits.

What is PE and Sport Premium?

The PE and Sport Premium is funding provided by the government to help schools improve the quality of their PE, sport and physical activity provision. The funding is designed to ensure that all pupils, regardless of background or ability, have access to high-quality sport and physical opportunities.

How We Use the Funding

Enhance PE Lessons
We invest in training and resources so that PE is engaging, inclusive and high quality, ensuring all children develop the skills and confidence they need to enjoy sport and physical activity.

Broaden Opportunities for Pupils
Funding allows us to offer a wide range of after-school clubs, competitions and sporting experiences. We aim to provide something for everyone, from traditional team sports to individual activities.

Encourage Active Lifestyles
We promote daily physical activity through initiatives such as the Daily Mile, playground equipment, and active breaktimes. These opportunities help pupils to develop healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Develop Staff Expertise
By providing training and support for teachers, we ensure that PE lessons are consistently high quality and that staff feel confident to deliver a wide range of physical activities.

Impact and Outcomes

We track the impact of our PE and Sport Premium carefully. Each year, we publish a detailed report showing how the funding has been spent and the difference it has made to pupils’ participation, fitness, and enjoyment of sport and physical activity.
