Welcome to the South Essex Institute Teaching School Alliance.

The South Essex Teaching Institute is an alliance of schools that have agreed to work together to improve the life chances of children. The alliance involves Rayleigh Primary School as a Department for Education nominated Teaching School. The Department currently has six key foci for every teaching school alliance.

  1. Initial Teacher Training. Alliance schools take a lead role in recruiting and training new teachers.
  2. Continuing Professional Development. Alliance schools look to make every teacher better by offering training opportunities such as peer-to-peer support, professional qualifications & leadership development.
  3. Succession Planning & Talent Management. Alliance schools will identify and develop leadership potential across all staff that work on behalf of children.
  4. School to School Support. Alliance schools work in partnership to provide and coordinate support for other schools.
  5. Specialist Leaders of Education. Alliance schools identify expertise within their staff and are responsible for designating and brokering the Department for Education's Specialist Leaders of Education Programme.
  6. Research & Development. Alliance schools should engage and lead in educational research
Why an alliance?

The reason we are committed to working in partnership is quite simple, we believe that all human enterprise is made stronger by working together.

"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much."
Helen Keller 1880-1968.
