Homework

The children are given one piece of literacy and numeracy homework each week.  This is given out on a Friday and expected back in on the following Wednesday.  This allows children the opportunity to speak to their teacher on a Monday or Tuesday if further guidance is needed.  They are also given weekly spellings which link into the year 5 word level activities.  We would also advice regular reading and times tables practice at home.

The passports scheme from Year 4 is not administered in a formal way, but we would encourage the children to use their passports as a reference.

Over the course of year 5 three research projects are set.  The children are given a few weeks to complete each one and these replace the usual homework.  These link into our modular work:

Autumn –   Rayleigh

Spring  -    Rivers

Summer –  Tudor Life
