Welcome to 3JP!
Year 3 is the first year in Key Stage 2, ie. the first year in the junior part of the school.
It is a big jump from KS1 to KS2 and many children take a little while to adjust.
In Year 3, our focus is on developing the children's learning skills, such as greater independence, reading for yourself, writing longer texts and learning their times tables.
In the morning the children will be expected to come in quietly and complete the tasks set
for them whilst the register is being taken. We want your children to read a wider range of texts including poetry and non-fiction outside of scholl and are sure you will support us in this. In school, the children are heard read on a regular basis through shared, guided and individual reading time and as they become more fluent and expressive, the emphasis shifts to discussion of texts.
Please make sure that all jumpers/cardigans are named as it always causes confusion at the end
of the day when the children try to find their one !!
P.E. is on a Thursday, so please ensure your child has marked kit and appropriate footwear in school. Also, hair long hair should be tied back and earings should be left out.
After class elections Emily Crowe was elected as the class representative on the school council
and Thomas Fewings is the Eco-schools class representative.
Mrs Prasser runs the Science Club
Mrs Slack runs the Gardening Club.
