Homework

In preparing your child for Reception,  homework will be given in their last term in the Nursery.  This will consist of an Oxford Reading Tree Picture Book and a Homework Diary, which will contain a worksheet style activity.  Building up to Reception 'Sight Vocabulary Words' will be given after the half term holiday, the children are expected to learn these words by sight and they will increase as they are learnt by a maximum of three/four at a time.

The children will be given their homework on a Friday, it will discussed with them as a small group in the Nursery before they bring it home.  They are expected to bring their completed homework back into Nursery the following Monday.

With the class teacher each child will have the opportunity to individually retell the story they have just read and to share their homework activity, 'smiley faces' and 'well done stickers' are always awarded to those who have tried extremely hard. This you will be able to share with your child when they bring home their next installment of homework.

Depending on the module, occasionally your child maybe asked to bring items from home into Nursery.  For example, with our module on 'The Family' the children were asked to bring in a number of photographs of themselves and their family members.
