Homework
In year one homework consists of reading books and sight vocabulary. At this early stage it is desirable that children read and practice sight vocabulary on a daily basis. It is also important to bear in mind that reading consists of both decoding words and comprehension of the text. Therefore by asking questions relating to the story, characters, settings etc will further your child's development in this area.
When listening to your child read at home please remember to record your comments in the reading record books.
In the summer term children will be given both numeracy and literacy homework on a weekly basis. This will be distributed to the children on a Friday to be completed and handed back to your child's teacher by the following Wednesday. These activites (where possible) will be linked to the classroom focus for that week.
