Welcome to 1VW

Teaching Assistants

In year one our teaching assistant is called Mrs Smith.

P.E.

The children in class 1VW have P.E on a Wednesday. Please ensure your child has appropriate P.E kit, clearly marked with their name and class. Jewelery is not to be worn for safety reasons and if your children come with earings that cannot be removed they will be taped over for protection.

Water Bottles.

The children are allowed to drink water throughout the day, this is kept in their classroom and should be clearly labelled with their name. Children should take these home at the end of the day to be refilled and ready for the following day.

Show and Tell.

Children will be given the opportunity to show and discuss special objects with their class. These should be interesting and relevant and not just toys! Children should come prepared to talk about their objects. Show and tell will normally take place on a Friday.

Letters.

In year one we are trying to encourage the children to become more independent by getting their own dinner money/signed forms etc out of their bags to give to the teacher.

When can I talk to my child's teacher?

As you can appreciate the teachers are very busy in the mornings preparing for the days lessons. Therefore it is not appropirate to talk to your child's teacher at this time. If you would like to speak to the teacher please feel free to make an appointment either via the office or with the teacher themselves after school.

Parent Helpers.

Year one would welcome any parents, grandparents etc. who would be happy to give up an hour of their time regularly once or twice a week to help with reading. You will need to be police checked and should collect a form from the school office.

During the summer term, when we start swimming, help will be very much appreciated to change the children.
