| Football at Rayleigh Primary.
Here at Rayleigh primary we are keen to encourage football for all ages. We work in partnership with other providers such as Rayleigh Boys and West Ham to bring the benefits of sport to children. Currently we have two teams in a league, the Rayleigh Primary Football Team and the Rayleigh Girls Team.
Rayleigh Primary Football Team.
The Team Ethos.
The Rayleigh Primary Football Team is chosen from the Year 6 children that wish to represent their school. We place a great deal of responsibility on our Year 6 to be the embodiment of our school ethos. This means we expect them to support, develop and seek improvements for one another. That they recognise the different strengths they possess and work hard on their individual and collective weaknesses. In this way the school creates a feeling of being part of a team. A team based upon fair play and the appreciation that sport is more about the friendships you develop than winning. This stance has served us well in the past.
Our History.
The school football team has been here since the founding of the Sports College at Deanes. This allowed the creation of a football league for the town schools. In the three years to date the school has come joint first with Our Lady of Ransom, first outright and midtable. The children are aware of the success to date and seek to match the standards of the past. Sadly, the teams we play change quite frequently as schools drop in and out of the league.

This Year's Team.
This year we have 14 boys challenging for a place in the school team. It is quite a challenge to select the best team for a match. To date we have lost at home against Our Lady of Ransom 0-5 but won away aginst Glebe 4-7.
We look forward to our next match against St Nicholas on 28th November.
Rayleigh Girls Football.
This year we have been fortunate to have a Girls Football Team. This team includes all Key Stage 2 girls that wish to play football. It has developed from those children that wished to learn football but felt they would be better training outside of the School Football Team. We are delighted that a separate league has been developed for these children for the first time.
