CC4G at Rayleigh Primary is open to all girls in year 6.

CC4G is now up and running. All interested girls have been issued with individual users names, have received a CC4G folder, in which to store her work and have created their own CC4G membership card. Oonce they have all their butterflies initialled, each girl will receive a CC4G drawstring bag.
Each topic within CC4G contains 3 challenges. On completing all 3 challenges each girl will receive a certificate and with the first certificate comes a sheet of CC4G stickers and a CC4G pen. The objective of CC4G is to change misperceptions of ICT in a generation of girls and help them make informed choices about future careers in a rapidly developing technological world.
e-skills UK, the Sector Skills Council for IT and Telecoms, has been working with global leaders in the IT industry to develop an exciting and far-reaching Club which introduces girls to information technology in a user-friendly context. The Clubs bring professional and current technical skills to girls in Years 6 to 9, through 12 different fun and innovative topics. Girls have opportunity to explore the world of the music industry, design magazines, create animated images, use computer-aided design software to design rooms and gardens and much more.
The programme is offered to all state schools in England, and currently has more than 2500 schools registered and more than 45,000 members.
The Club is delivered through a dedicated password protected website, where only the Club facilitator, Club members and staff at e-skills UK have access. We promote safe use of the Internet by ensuring that all e-skills UK staff and suppliers who are involved with, and/or have access to the site, have undertaken the appropriate security checks insofar as the safety of young people is concerned.
CC4G is a fun learning experience for girls and has been met by members with great enthusiasm.
Girls only – the legal position
The CC4G project specifically addresses the gender imbalance within the IT industry. e-skills UK has been
advised by the Equal Opportunities Commission that the project is covered by Section 47(1) of the Sex
Discrimination Act, which supports “…Training or encouragement for particular work where in the previous 12
months one sex has been substantially under-represented.”
