Tudor Lessons

Throughout the week all the children in the school spent time learning about Henry VIII and life in the first half of the 16th Century. Some of the lessons were just in class with their teachers, but many were with Living Historians who spent the week with us.  All week the children had the chance to work with Will Beckett of Tudor Travellers and from Wednesday they also sang and danced with Myal Pyper. We had other Living Historians in school including, Taggy, Maggott and Peg. Mr &  Mrs Eagling, and Mrs Dunt are also Tudor Living Historians and spent much of the week in Tudor clothes whilst they worked with children all around the school

Below and on the following pages you will find some pictures of some of the activities that the children did in school during the week. Many of the activities were based outside in the Living History encampment which was in the school gardens. Just click on the images to take you to more pictures.

All of the Tudors who worked with our children can also be seen and spoken to at Kenwtwell Hall in Suffolk. Kentwell is a Tudor Red Brick manor house in Long Melford. It was one of , if not the first, site in the country to home this kind of Living History and it is well worth a visit, especially on weekends in June & July. The experience there is a little different because when you visit Kentwell you travel back in time to the 16th century and all the people  who live and work on the manor speak and behave as they would have during the reign of the Tudors.
