| Eco-schools

Rayleigh Primary School is an Eco-School.
This means that we analyse our operations in an attempt to become more sustainable. It is our intention to become a more stimulating place in which to learn, whilst reducing the environmental impact of the whole school on the community.
Pupil involvement is a key part of the Eco-Schools programme. Having pupils engaged in the whole process, including monitoring, action planning and decision-making increases the children’s sense of responsibility for the school’s environment and local area. The school has a democratically elected Eco-Action team with representatives from each class, parents, governors and staff.
Eco-Schools runs a programme of awards to given criteria presented to the schools. At present we hold the Bronze Award and are working towards the Silver Award and eventually hope to achieve the Green Flag. For the school’s present Eco-Action plan, see below. Our Eco-Code

Clothes Collectors & Shoe Friends
As part of our Eco-Schools project we now have a 'Clothes Collectors' bin. This large green bin is located outside the KS2 exit. You can recycle dry, clean clothing and household textiles. Not only does this benefit the environment in cutting down the amount of rubbish that gets sent to landfil but it also helps the school to raise funds. We will receive £2.50 for every sack collected. For further details please click here for textile recycling and here for shoes.
